Redcurrant Charm Earrings – Handmade Polymer Clay Jewelry Inspired by Polish Summers
This piece is part of my summer fruit collection, inspired by all the fresh flavors and colors of the season. These charms in particular were designed to capture the deep red hues and juicy freshness of redurrants. The design draws from Polish orchards, where redcurrants slowly ripen under warm sunlight. I wanted to create a wearable reminder of these gentle, simple moments.
How the Earrings are Made
Firstly, I shape the charms using translucent polymer clay by Cernit which I use to create a glassy look. Then, I colour the clay using red pastel shavings and shape them into tiny beads. After baking, the charms are covered in a clear glossy varnish by Darwi. This not only protects the acrylic paint but also adds a soft shine, making the apricots feel lively and bright.
Inside every charm, I embed a gold stainless steel pin for strength and durability. Then, I connect the beads together using jump rings and the redurrant chain to gold-plated stainless steel hoops. Each pair is finished with an addition of a detailed metal gold leaf charm. These hoops are light and comfortable to wear all day long. Additionally, the warm gold color perfectly complements the deep red hue 0f the redcurrant charms.
Since I make each charm by hand, you may notice small differences in shape and paint details. Therefore, every pair is unique and carries a bit of handmade charm that makes it special.
Care Tips
To keep your earrings looking their best:
-
Avoid water, perfumes, and harsh chemicals, as these can dull the varnish
-
Store your earrings separately to prevent scratches or damage
-
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth when needed
-
Handle with care since polymer clay is sturdy but can chip if dropped
